SUPPLIES
-
1 cup Glutinous rice four (look for the green package)
-
1/2 cup water
-
red food color
-
3 tbsp. sugar
directions
1. Measure one cup of glutinous rice flour and pour into bowl.

2. Measure 1/2 water and pour into a bowl.
3. Add about 1 or 2 drops of red food color into the water. (A little color goes a long way. You can always add more later on if you prefer a darker shade of red.)
4. Add a few spoonful of the colored water into the glutinous rice flour and stir. Be sure not to add all of the water at once. It will be easier to control the consistency of the dough.
5. Mix the flour and water until it forms into a dough. Knead the dough for a few minutes until you can form a smooth ball. If the dough is too sticky or flaky you can add a few spoonful of the flour.

6. Pull apart about a half inch of dough and roll it into a ball with your palms. Carefully with your fingers shape the dough into a heart.
If you are not ready to boil the mochi be sure to cover it with plastic wrap. They can also be place in the freezer if you would like to make a batch to enjoy later.

9. Scoop the heart mochi in a bowl. If you are not planning to eat it right away add a few spoons of water so the mochi will not turn hard.

7. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Place the heart mochi balls into boiling water. Gently stir with a spoon to make sure it does not stick to the bottom.
8. The mochi balls will be ready when the mochi balls floats to the top. If you prefer a softer mochi you can boil for a few minutes more.

10. Now it's time for you to bring out your favorite hot coco mix. Once your hot coco is ready go ahead and add the heart mochi into your hot coco and enjoy!
